Job summary

• 2 years of experience in healthcare or a related field.
• Strong customer orientation and servicing skills.
• Demonstrated initiative in accomplishing goals.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to interact with patients over the phone in an energetic and empathetic manner.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Detail-oriented and well-organized.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work with a variety of system applications.
• Bilingual English and Spanish strongly preferred.
• For roles that are remote (i.e., Work From Home (WFM)) or hybrid (i.e., partial onsite at a VSP location and WFM), must demonstrate a high level of engagement in virtual environments, including maintaining camera presence during meetings to support effective communication and team alignment

Responsibilities

• Receive inbound patient calls in a high-volume call center environment.
• Schedule patient with the appropriate provider based on need/issue.
• When necessary, utilize various systems to determine appointment availability and schedule the appropriate appointment.
• Collect all relevant patient demographic information including insurance coverage, patient medical history, etc.
• Depending on location, educate patients on referral process and arrange for any diagnostic testing.
• Leverage fundamental knowledge and understanding of the treatment protocols and specialty providers involved in managing diseases of the eye and vision care.
• Maintain patient confidentiality and the privacy of health information.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.
