Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee seeks a Community Technician to maintain a safe residential environment and respond to crises with empathy. You will assist residents, conduct rounds, perform screenings, and support safety procedures while documenting incidents.

Training provided in trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and emergency response; opportunities for advancement exist within the program. This full-time role offers 37.5 hours weekly, flexible shifts, and a benefits package including health

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
  • Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
  • Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
  • Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
  • Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
  • Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
  • Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
  • Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
  • Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
