Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. is seeking a Community Technician to provide frontline support for individuals experiencing homelessness. You will maintain a safe residential environment, engage residents with empathy, and apply trauma-informed care during crises.

The full-time position offers an evening shift (4pm-12:30am), mandatory overtime, and benefits starting Day One, plus training, tuition assistance, and opportunities for advancement within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
  • Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
  • Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
  • Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
  • Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
  • Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
  • Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
  • Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
