Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee is seeking a Community Technician to provide a stable, supportive presence for residents and to supervise safety and crises across 24/7 shifts. You will be a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, supporting people in moments of crisis, uncertainty, or transition.

You will engage residents with trauma-informed care, perform rounds, assist with meals and documentation, and pursue BRC-sponsored certifications.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan - training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
