Bowery Residents' Committee, Inc. seeks a Community Technician in New York, NY to provide front-line support for individuals experiencing homelessness. This full-time role covers 37.5 hours weekly with 24/7 shift coverage and mandatory overtime, focusing on safety, crisis response, and compassionate engagement.

The position offers hands-on trauma-informed care, training in CPR/First Aid, Narcan, and fire safety, and opportunities for progression within the organization.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
