Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee in New York City is seeking a Community Technician to provide hands-on support for individuals experiencing homelessness. You’ll be a consistent, trusted presence during crises and transitions, helping maintain safety, dignity, and stability on every shift.

This frontline role includes trauma-informed care, de-escalation, and opportunities for paid training, certifications, and career growth within a mission-driven team.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to stay calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, Narcan, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
