Job summary

Bowery Residents' Committee in New York, NY is hiring a Community Technician for a full-time role (37.5 hours/week) within a 24/7 program, with mandatory overtime. You will be a consistent, trusted presence for individuals experiencing homelessness, supporting them through crises and transitions.

Responsibilities include supervising and de-escalating situations, screening residents, providing emergency support with training provided, and thorough documentation.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication skills and basic computer proficiency.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
