Bowery Residents' Committee in New York, NY is seeking a Community Technician to be a steady, supportive presence for individuals experiencing homelessness across shifts. You will monitor the residential environment and respond to crises with empathy, applying trauma-informed care and de-escalation techniques.

Training will be provided for First Aid, CPR, Narcan, and Fire Safety procedures. This role offers full-time hours, overtime opportunities, and a pathway to certifications, with a focus on

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required.
• Strong communication and basic computer skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain boundaries.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, orderly residential environment through active monitoring and rounds.
• Engage residents using trauma-informed and de-escalation techniques.
• Respond to conflicts, safety concerns, and crises professionally.
• Screen residents and visitors while maintaining dignity and security.
• Provide emergency support (First Aid/CPR, Narcan – training provided).
• Complete documentation (logbooks, incident reports, progress notes).
• Support fire safety procedures, inspections, and compliance.
• Assist with meals, escorts, inventory, and facility upkeep.
