Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Associate Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer to join the Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New England with offices in Boston, MA. The role involves field and office work, inspection duties, and collaboration across disciplines to support transportation projects.

The ideal candidate has a civil/structural engineering background, 1–3 years of related experience, and strong communication skills to interact with engineering and non-engineering audiences.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 1–3 years experience in bridge, tunnel or ancillary inspection or design or related work.
• Interest in structures/transportation and a desire to advance skills.
• Able to perform field work including at heights and in adverse weather; night work possible.
• Role may be 50% field and 50% office.
• Valid driver's license and Motor Vehicle Record check required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to take direction and execute projects.
• Proficiency with technical writing, MS Office, and general software/tools.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on inspection projects.
• Contribute as a team member on bridge, tunnel and ancillary inspections.
• Assist in preparing bridge and tunnel load ratings.
• Assist in developing plans/sketches using AutoCAD.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
• Support development of technical, social, and ethical skills through project tasks.
• Learn fundamental principles of bridge and transportation engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and basic design calculations.
• Support preparation of cost proposals and scope of work documents.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on task-specific responsibilities.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
