Job summary

WSP USA is seeking an Early Career Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer to join our Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team across New England offices including Boston, MA and surrounding areas. You will support a variety of inspection tasks, draft plans, and assist with load rating preparation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 0 to 1 year of relevant post-education experience in bridge, tunnel, or related work.
• Interest in structures, transportation, and advancing skills related to WSP’s projects.
• Ability to perform field work including heights, adverse weather, and night work.
• 50% field and 50% office work balance potential.
• Motor Vehicle Record check and valid Driver’s License required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Basic proficiency with MS Office and technical writing.
• Willing to travel occasionally, including overnight stays.

Responsibilities

• Work with the Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on inspection projects.
• Contribute as a team member on bridge, tunnel, and ancillary inspections.
• Assist in preparing bridge and tunnel load ratings.
• Assist with developing plans and sketches using AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to execute project work.
• Support engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic bridge and transportation engineering principles.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations.
• Support preparation of cost proposals and scope documents.
• Help maintain project documentation and complete training tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and policies; exercise ethical decision-making.
• Perform additional duties as required by business needs.
