Job summary

WSP USA seeks an Associate Bridge Inspection, Structural Engineer to join the Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team in New England, including Glastonbury, CT, with projects for CTDOT. The role combines field inspections with office planning and design tasks, offering growth in structural and transportation engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in bridge, tunnel or ancillary inspection or design.
• Interest in structures/transportation and desire to advance skills.
• Physically capable of field work incl. heights, night work, adverse weather.
• Position may be split 50% field and 50% office.
• Motor Vehicle Record check and valid Driver’s License required.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software and spreadsheets.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
• Occasional travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Work with Bridge & Infrastructure Inspection Team on inspection projects.
• Collaborate on Bridge, Tunnel & Ancillary inspections as a team member.
• Assist in developing bridge/tunnel load ratings.
• Assist with plans/sketches using AutoCAD.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams on project work.
• Support engineering tasks to develop technical, social and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Bridge/Transportation Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work and preliminary design calculations/analysis.
• Support preparation of cost proposals and scope of work documents.
• Help collect and maintain project documentation.
• Complete assignment-specific training.
• Exercise ethical decision-making regarding company funds and policies.
