Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston is seeking an Afterschool Site Lead for a licensed school-age program in Katy, TX. You’ll ensure children are safe, engaged, and supervised, coordinating daily operations, implementing the YMCA curriculum, and maintaining licensing compliance.

The role emphasizes strong family communication, program planning, and collaboration with school partners, with part-time schedules aligned to ISD calendars. Prior child/youth program experience and CPR/First Aid are expected.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED; minimum 70 clock hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership or management.
• At least one year of experience working with youth in a licensed childcare facility, school, church, or similar setting.
• CPR, First Aid, AED, and Child Abuse Prevention certifications (or ability to obtain).
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate activities and programming.
• Experience working with diverse populations.
• Ability to pass state and local background checks and FBI fingerprinting requirements.
• Current TB test and any required health screenings or immunizations per state and local regulations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as primary leader for a licensed school-age enrichment program.
• Coordinate daily program operations and YMCA curriculum.
• Ensure licensing compliance and build relationships with families and school partners.
• Maintain attendance records and prepare safety and incident reports.
• Lead safety drills, inspections, and program quality improvements.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities and curriculum.
• Engage parents with progress updates and inquiries.
• Oversee enrollment and attendance documentation.
• Promote program growth and retention strategies.
• Lead program evaluation and safety with adherence to policies.
