Overview
The Deputy Director plays a key leadership role in the Information Technology (IT) department, supporting the Director in overseeing the organization’s IT infrastructure, applications, and operations. This position is responsible for driving strategic initiatives, leading cross-functional teams, and ensuring the secure, efficient, and effective delivery of IT services. The role also includes oversight of IT governance, controls, and audit-related activities.
Support the Director in setting and executing strategic IT goals aligned with the organization’s overall business direction.
Contribute to the development and implementation of IT policies, procedures, and standards in accordance with industry best practices and frameworks.
Oversee daily IT operations to ensure availability, reliability, and cybersecurity of infrastructure, systems, and networks.
Continuously review and optimize IT operational processes to support efficient service delivery and timely incident/problem resolution.
Lead, mentor, and manage a multidisciplinary IT team, fostering collaboration, high performance, and professional growth.
Identify team training needs and facilitate continuous learning and development opportunities.
Oversee project delivery, manage risks, and address challenges to ensure successful outcomes.
Manage IT outsourcing arrangements to ensure service levels, performance, and contractual commitments are met.
Oversee IT procurement processes, evaluate proposals, and support vendor selection and contract decisions.
Ensure compliance with data protection, cybersecurity, and IT operational policies, regulations, and standards.
Maintain and enhance IT governance structures, frameworks, and documentation.
Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and resolving audit findings.
Provide regular updates to the Director and assume leadership responsibilities in their absence.
Build and maintain strong communication channels and relationships across internal departments.
Maintain accurate and organized records in compliance with documentation and retention standards.
Provide coverage for team members during absences and perform other duties as assigned in support of departmental objectives.
Diploma, Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, or relevant professional certification in Information Technology or related fields.
At least 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in a managerial or leadership role.
Proven experience managing complex IT operations and large-scale projects; exposure to healthcare IT systems is an advantage.
Strong knowledge of IT infrastructure, enterprise systems, and emerging technologies.
Effective leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
Solid understanding of both Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies.
Experience in vendor management, budgeting, and systems integration.
Strong strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Familiarity with IT governance frameworks such as COBIT and ITIL, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage senior stakeholders.
Proficiency in tools such as Microsoft Project, Visio, Excel, and related software applications.
PMP (Project Management Professional) or CITPM (Certified IT Project Manager) certification preferred.
