Job description

You will be part of our e-publishing production team as an XML Data Conversion Specialist. Your main responsibility will involve converting content from various formats like Word, PDF, and LaTeX into structured XML. This conversion process requires you to ensure compliance with industry-specific DTDs/schemas such as JATS, NLM, and DITA. Your key responsibilities will include converting manuscripts and content files into XML using tools or manual coding, validating XML files, performing quality checks for accurate content structure, collaborating with different teams to resolve issues, automating tasks using XSLT or scripts, and maintaining documentation of conversion processes.To excel in this role, you should hold a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Publishing, or related field. Previous experience in XML data conversion or e-publishing workflows is essential. Proficiency in XML, XSLT, DTDs, and schema validation is required. Familiarity with XML editors like oXygen, XMetaL, Arbortext, and scripting languages such as Python or Perl would be beneficial. Knowledge of publishing standards like JATS, NLM, EPUB, or HTML is also expected. Your attention to detail and analytical skills, along with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines, will be crucial for success in this role. This is a full-time position with benefits including health insurance, Internet reimbursement, and Provident Fund. The work schedule is during the day shift from Monday to Friday, with a quarterly bonus. The work location is in person.
