Job description

This role is responsible for origination, structuring and execution of Export & Agency Finance (EAF) transactions, with major responsibility covering transactions supported by Multilateral Agencies (MLAs), namely Asian Development Bank (ADB), Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), World Bank Group MLAs (MIGA, IBRD, IFC etc) among others. Other responsibilities include origination, structuring and execution of Asia-bounded transactions supported by ECAs. This role requires availability to business travel within APAC.

Position: Vice President, Export & Agency Finance, Global Transaction Banking, Asia Pacific – MLA Focus (Hong Kong/Singapore) Country: Hong Kong

Key Responsibilities
  • Origination, structuring and execution of Asia-bounded (including inbound, outbound and intra-Asia) Export & Agency Finance transactions which are supported by MLAs.
  • Establishing and/or developing consolidated relationships with key stakeholders at the main MLAs with operations in APAC, keeping abreast of product development, strategies, appetite etc.
  • Provide support to other product and coverage teams in Santander Asia’s offices.
  • Distribution of EAF transactions in the region, if and when required.
  • Origination, directly and in cooperation of other Santander´s professionals, of EAF related transactions, with focus in APAC inbound and intra-Apac transactions.
  • Prepare pitching materials, transaction proposals and Term Sheets for clients.
  • Provide input for credit proposals, liaise with the relevant risk teams and follow-up on credit approval process.
  • Negotiate loan documentation and liaise with the relevant departments within Santander (i.e. Middle Office, legal, compliance etc), as well as external advisors if needed (i.e. legal counsel etc).
  • Provide technical and marketing support to other Santander’s units involved in EAF business.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business, or other relevant disciplines.
  • Minimum years of relevant EAF experience (solid experience in transactions supported by MLAs and/or previous work experience in a major MLA active in APAC is a strong plus).
  • Solid knowledge of MLA-supported financing structures, products and technicalities.
  • Client facing experience, with proven involvement in pitching, commercial negotiations, as well as structuring and documentation discussions of EAF transactions.
  • Sound credit assessment skills with good knowledge in corporate banking products.
  • Established relationships with MLAs and other ECAs in Asia.
  • Maintain strong relationships with major importers/exporters in the Asia-Pacific region and with banks active in the EAF sector.
  • Fluency in English and proficiency in Mandarin and/or Korean is a plus.
