Job Description

The UI/UX Designer (Digital Twin & Factory Interfaces) is responsible for designing intuitive, data-driven user interfaces for factory applications and digital twin platforms. This role focuses on creating clear, usable dashboards and visualisations for industrial environments, improving existing factory tools, and collaborating closely with engineers and product teams to deliver consistent, operator-friendly designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and refine digital twin interfaces, including dashboards, data views, and equipment visualisations.
  • Create intuitive 2D dashboards and status views, and support 3D equipment views where applicable.
  • Audit and improve existing factory and automation interfaces to enhance clarity, navigation, and task flow.
  • Reduce operator errors and cognitive load through thoughtful interaction design.
  • Work directly with engineers, operators, and managers to understand real factory workflows and constraints.
  • Observe factory environments where possible, accounting for PPE, lighting, noise, and time pressure.
  • Produce wireframes, high-fidelity mockups, and interactive prototypes using modern design tools.
  • Plan and conduct usability tests or pilot sessions, iterating designs based on feedback.
  • Contribute to and apply a shared design system for industrial applications.
  • Ensure consistent layouts, typography, colour usage, and interaction patterns.
  • Collaborate closely with software, HMI, and product teams to support implementation.
  • Communicate design rationale clearly and support development through specifications and reviews.
Requirements / Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Multimedia, IT, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience as a UI/UX designer working on complex or data-intensive applications.
  • Strong understanding of user-centred design principles.
Must Have Skills
  • Proven experience designing complex, data-heavy interfaces such as dashboards or monitoring tools.
  • Strong visual and interaction design skills (layout, hierarchy, typography, colour systems).
  • Proficiency with Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD for wireframes and prototypes.
  • Experience conducting user research and usability testing.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams.
  • Awareness of accessibility basics and industrial usability considerations.
Good to Have Skills
  • Experience with industrial, real-time, or factory systems (HMI, control dashboards, digital twins).
  • Basic understanding of frontend technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) for collaboration.
  • Experience creating or maintaining design systems.
  • Strong data visualisation skills for charts, alarms, and status indicators.
