Job summary

A professional services firm in Singapore is seeking an experienced Geotechnical Engineer with a minimum of 8 years in geotechnical engineering, particularly with MRT tunnel projects. Responsibilities include reviewing geological data, assessing excavation conditions, and leading geotechnical aspects throughout project phases. The ideal candidate is independent, medically fit for shift work, and has strong competencies in instrumentation monitoring and soil analysis. Competitive compensation is offered.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Review geological data and soil sample from shaft excavation, mined and bored tunnel and offer assessments and advice on impact to shaft and tunnelling works
• Assess face conditions during excavation to confirm stability of the ground for working condition.
• Do face mapping for mine and bored tunnel
• Perform ground condition checks during cutterhead interventions for tunnelling works
• Evaluate risks related to soft ground, rock tunneling, and mixed-face conditions.
• Good knowledge on face mapping and muck reconciliation
• Review instrumentation and monitoring plans (e.g., inclinometers, piezometers, settlement markers).
• Monitor and review instrumentation results against design
• Lead geotechnical aspects of tunneling projects from feasibility to construction.

Requirements:

• Degree in Civil Engineering or Geology recognised by the PE Board
• Minimum eight (8) years of geotechnical engineering
• Able to Monitor and review instrumentation results against design
• Ability to carry out works under compressed air
• Preferred 5 years experience in handling MRT TUNNEL projects, at least five (5) years of experience in construction supervision of geotechnical work for projects of similar scale, complexity and nature of work.
• Independent and self motivated
• Medically fit to do compress air and shift work
