Key Responsibilities
The Transition Manager supports and executes work-transfer projects within the aerospace supply chain, including Make-to-Buy, Buy-to-Buy, and capacity moves. The role ensures successful project execution, supports FAI and APQP deliverables, and coordinates cross-functional teams to secure operational readiness at suppliers and internal sites. The position also contributes to regional supply chain growth activities by conducting supplier assessments and providing early qualification support.
The ideal candidate has experience in manufacturing or supplier management, project management skills, and the ability to drive transitions between global sites and suppliers.
End-to-End Work Transfer Management
- Support transition planning activities, including data collection, schedule updates, and risk tracking.
- Track project milestones, risks, and actions; elevate issues appropriately.
FAI / PPAP & Qualification Accountability
- Own and drive FAI (AS9102) and/or PPAP completion for all transferred parts within the region.
- Ensure receiving suppliers meet all qualification requirements before production release.
- Coordinate qualification builds, capability studies, and documentation approval.
Supplier Readiness & Capability Development
- Conduct supplier readiness assessments, capability audits, and gap analysis.
- Oversee supplier capacity validation, tooling readiness, and process set‑up.
- Assist suppliers on process control, documentation, and industrial maturity.
APQP & Industrialization Leadership
- Integrate APQP requirements into every transfer project, including PFMEA, control plans, process flow, and validation activities.
- Ensure suppliers complete all APQP milestones before handover.
- Validate that new production sources meet required cost, quality, and delivery performance.
Regional Savings & Cost Management
- Identify, track, and deliver cost savings generated through work transfers (e.g., cost restructuring, productivity improvements, footprint optimization).
Cross-Functional Leadership & Communication
- Assist in coordination between engineering, supply chain, quality, sourcing, manufacturing, and program teams.
- Drive engineering change management, technical data transfer, and configuration control.
- Communicate project status, risks, and mitigation actions to leadership and stakeholders.
Risk Management & Issue Resolution
- Identify technical, supply chain, and capacity risks early; develop and implement robust mitigation plans.
- Support problem‑solving activities and elevate risks to the Transition Manager.
- Ensure continuity of supply throughout the transition.
Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain project documentation in compliance with internal and customer requirements.
