Position: Toolmaker
Company Overview:
We are a leading manufacturer specializing in precision tooling and stamping solutions. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Toolmaker to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the fabrication, maintenance, and optimization of complex 3D stamping tools, ensuring high-quality production standards and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Location: Kian Teck Rd
Working Hours: 4-day work week (Monday to Thursday)
Shift Allowance:
- Day Shift (7 AM to 7 PM): $6.40 per day
- Night Shift (7 PM to 7 AM): $23 per day
Salary: Up to $4,000 basic + shift allowance + variable bonus
Company Transport: Provided island-wide (details shared during the interview)
Key Responsibilities
Tool Fabrication & Assembly
- Manufacture and assemble complex 3D stamping tools using precision machining techniques, including hand‑fitting and advanced tooling processes.
- Ensure that tools meet the required design specifications and functional standards, including part form accuracy, surface finish, and dimensional tolerances.
Tool Maintenance
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on 3D stamping dies, ensuring their operational efficiency and longevity.
- Troubleshoot and repair worn or damaged tools to restore them to optimal function, minimizing downtime.
Tool Design Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with the Tool & Die Design and Production Engineering teams during the tool development process.
- Provide valuable feedback to improve tool designs, focusing on manufacturability, ease of assembly, and long‑term maintainability.
Trial & Tuning
- Conduct tool try‑outs and fine‑tune processes to achieve high first‑pass yield and part quality.
- Optimize press parameters for both new and existing tools to improve efficiency and product quality.
Quality & Documentation
- Verify tools against technical drawings, 3D models, and part inspection results to ensure conformity to design specifications.
- Maintain accurate and detailed records of tool history, maintenance activities, and performance metrics.
Support Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for improvement in tooling performance, process stability, and cycle time.
- Propose and implement improvements to enhance productivity, reduce downtime, and increase overall tool performance.
Requirements
- Technical Certificate or Diploma in Tool & Die Making, Precision Engineering, or a related field.
- 2 years of hands‑on experience in tool making, with a strong focus on progressive, compound, and 3D stamping tools.
- Experience in working with tight tolerance parts and challenging materials such as stainless steel and copper alloys.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting 3D CAD drawings and 2D tool design prints.
- Strong knowledge of stamping tool design, maintenance, and optimization techniques.
