About the Role:

Brighton College (Singapore), is seeking an inspirational Teacher of Politics and History to join our expanding school community from August 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the Senior School’s Humanities provision as Brighton College (Singapore) grows from a first-class Prep School into one of the region’s leading all-through schools, offering education from Pre-Nursery to Year 13.

What you will be doing:

• Deliver high-quality Politics and History lessons across the Senior School, ensuring all pupils are engaged, challenged and supported to make excellent progress.
• Take responsibility for the teaching, progress and attainment of timetabled pupils in Years 7 to 12 from August 2026, extending this responsibility to Year 13 as the school grows.
• Teach and support pupils preparing for IGCSE History (starting with the new Year 11 cohort in August 2026), A-level Politics and A-level History (starting with the new Year 12 cohort in August 2026).
• Provide academic guidance for Sixth Form pupils interested in pursuing Politics, International Relations, History, or related degrees at leading universities.
• Contribute to a rich and varied co-curricular Humanities programme, offering opportunities for pupils to extend their understanding of global issues through debating, Model United Nations, essay competitions and enrichment activities.
• Support and help organise academic events, competitions and trips related to Politics and History.
• Contribute to the assessment, tracking and reporting of pupil progress in Politics and History, ensuring accurate, constructive and timely feedback is provided.
• Demonstrate the experience and ability to teach Politics effectively at Key Stage 5, and History across Key Stages 3–5, adapting lessons to meet the needs of pupils of all abilities.
• Act as an outstanding classroom practitioner, modelling excellent teaching, intellectual curiosity and high expectations in both subjects.
• Promote excellence, critical thinking and a love of enquiry in all areas of the Politics and History curriculum.
• Work closely with the Head of Humanities, and the Heads of EAL and AEN, to develop tailored pathways for pupils requiring additional support.
• Contribute to the school’s pastoral system and act as a tutor for a Senior School year group.
• Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding and child protection.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
• Undertake any other reasonable management requests in support of the school’s mission, vision and values.

Who we are looking for:

• Bachelor’s degree in Politics or History, with PGCE or equivalent.
• Expert knowledge or experience of successfully delivering Politics A-level, History A-level and History GCSEs/IGCSEs.
• International school experience (preferred).
• Exemplifies the Brighton College (Singapore) values of Curiosity, Confidence and Kindness.
• An international outlook and understanding of working in diverse environments.
