Job summary

JOB SUMMARY

To provide prompt and efficient imaging service in angiographic procedures.

MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
SPECIFIC
  • Be responsible for daily testing of the equipment before the day starts.
  • To ensure that room is properly prepared before bringing in a patient.
  • To brief patients on the nature of the procedures and explain what they are expected to do.
  • To provide positioning and immobilization devices as required.
  • To practice sterile techniques to prevent cross contamination.
  • To ensure that the proper patient's name and other required information are documented.
  • To acquire diagnostic images in angiographic examinations, with due regard to radiation safety, patient care and clinical needs.
  • Be involved in the care of patients undergoing examinations with due regard to the condition and nature of the illness and reasons for investigations.
  • Be responsible for the proper functioning and maintenance of radiographic equipment and accessories within the work area.
  • Demonstrate good practice in the use of screening controls positioning of the Image intensifier and collimator.
  • To ensure adequate radiation safety of patients, staff and public within the work environment and adhere to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles, particularly with regards to image acquisition.
  • To practice regulated safety standards according to Joint Commission International and Occupational Safety and Health Act.
GENERAL
  • To perform 24-hour call duty as rostered.
  • To assist in the department's EHS, PDS and ISO/JCI efforts.
  • To participate in quality Improvement projects at Hospital-wide / Departmental level.
  • To coach and guide junior radiographers.
  • To monitor and control the radiographic supplies.
  • To maintain quality control and maintenance of imaging equipment and accessories.
  • To assist in the preparation of specification, evaluation and commissioning of new facilities, x-ray equipment and accessories.
  • To demonstrate good interpersonal and communication skills with the patients, next-of-kin, colleagues and supervisors.
  • To demonstrate familiarity with mass disaster plan and participate in the disaster exercise accordingly to assigned roles and responsibilities.
  • To exercise care in the use of radiographic equipment and supplies.
  • To maintain a safe and clean working environment in accordance to EHS policy.
  • To demonstrate competency in the use of the Cardiac PACs.
  • To cross cover Nuclear Cardiology Services / Cardiac CT when required.
  • To perform any other duties as assigned by the Senior Nurse Manager, Radiographer-in-charge, doctors and Head of Department.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Degree or Diploma in Radiography from recognized institutions.
  • Preferably 6 years of experience in general radiography or Cardiac Catheterisation Laboratory.
  • Registered with Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC), Singapore
