Job description

Family Group: Administration The Senior Assistant Manager supports Group Quality in driving system‑enabled improvements, effective project implementation, and operational excellence. The role oversees the development, enhancement, and execution of IT and quality‑related projects, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities while providing operational and technology support to enable risk management, safety, and quality improvement initiatives across the cluster.

1. Project Management (50%)

The role leads end‑to‑end project management, working closely with stakeholders to plan, develop, and implement projects that enhance system workflows and organisational efficiency. Responsibilities include developing detailed project charters, defining scope, goals, timelines, deliverables, and resources. The role gathers and analyses user requirements for new systems or enhancements, and collaborates with various workgroups to ensure smooth system development, upgrades, testing, and implementation. The Senior Assistant Manager conducts analysis, interprets results, and provides recommendations that support decision‑making at committees or workgroups, while ensuring effective coordination across project teams to meet project targets and deadlines. Success is measured by timely delivery, successful implementation, and smooth system refresh cycles.

2. Operational Support (40%)

The role manages day‑to‑day system operations, provides administrative and technical support, and ensures stable and reliable functioning of key IT systems related to quality, safety, and clinical risk management. Responsibilities include handling operational issues, troubleshooting, and offering timely resolutions. The position provides training and onboarding for new system users, ensuring a positive user experience. The role supports data management needs, including system configuration, data extraction, and analytics. Additionally, the Senior Assistant Manager contributes to conceptualising and implementing AI‑enabled solutions to advance quality assurance, safety, and risk management. Performance is measured through user satisfaction, system reliability, and timely resolution of feedback across NHG institutions.

3. Other Duties (10%)

The Senior Assistant Manager contributes to planning and execution of departmental activities such as clinical risk and quality improvement events by providing IT system support. The role also assists with data management for research publications and undertakes ad‑hoc tasks as assigned. Strong teamwork and flexibility are essential to support organisational needs while maintaining the quality of core responsibilities.

Qualifications
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related discipline from a recognised university.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant working experience.
  • At least 2 years of project leadership experience in IT projects (e.g., workflow design, database development).
  • Experience in quality, safety, or improvement work is an advantage.
