Solution Architect

We are representing our client, who is seeking a seasoned database professional to act as a technical subject matter expert, with a strong focus on relational databases and cloud-based deployments. This role works closely with customers across both pre- and post-sales stages, supporting the evaluation, adoption, and successful implementation of the organisation’s database technology as a core solution.

Key Responsibilities

• Act as a database subject matter expert, advising customers on data modelling, migration strategies, performance testing, and day-to-day database operations.
• Bring hands‑on experience across both open‑source and commercial databases, including MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, and SQL Server.
• Design and support database workloads deployed on major cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, and Azure.
• Serve as the technical authority on the organisation’s database platform, covering compatibility assessments, deployment, administration, development, and migration.
• Lead technical discussions, presentations, and demonstrations to articulate the organisation’s technology, vision, and value proposition to both individual stakeholders and larger customer groups.
• Engage customers to uncover business and technical pain points and map the organisation’s solutions to their specific needs.
• Drive and execute Proof of Concept (PoC) projects to validate the organisation’s database capabilities.
• Support post‑sales implementation in collaboration with the organisation’s delivery team.
• Maintain a deep understanding of competitive and complementary database technologies, and effectively position the organisation’s database offering within the broader database ecosystem.
• Provide expert guidance to resolve customer‑specific technical challenges.
• Work closely with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing teams to continuously enhance the organisation’s product and market positioning.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or a related discipline preferred.
• Strong passion for working in a fast‑paced, dynamic, and disruptive technology environment.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to independently engage customers, understand requirements, and propose effective technical solutions.
• 5+ years of experience in customer‑facing technical roles (pre‑sales or post‑sales), with at least 2+ years as a Solution Architect at a database technology company or an organisation with a mature cloud database offering preferred.
• Prior experience as a Database Administrator or Database Architect is highly desirable.
• Strong SQL skills, with the ability to write, analyze, and optimize queries, particularly for MySQL and/or Oracle databases.
• Broad familiarity with mainstream database technologies, such as Oracle, MySQL, Snowflake, MongoDB, Amazon Aurora, and Google Spanner, with deep expertise in at least one.
• Hands‑on experience working in one or more public cloud environments.
• Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including solution architects, product management, marketing, and account management.
• Willingness and ability to travel, with coverage across ASEAN and other regions as required.
