ABOUT LUMILENS

At Lumilens we are building the critical photonics infrastructure that powers tomorrow’s AI supercomputing. From chip-to-chip optical interconnects to scalable photonic engines, Lumilens is unlocking a new era of computing—faster, cooler, and massively more efficient.

We’re a well‑funded startup backed by Mayfield and led by veterans who’ve built and scaled some of the most transformative technologies in the industry. At Lumilens, we’re developing high‑speed photonics products purpose‑built to power the future of AI infrastructure and high‑performance computing.

This isn’t incremental innovation; it’s a ground‑floor opportunity to rethink the optical layer from the silicon up. You’ll work alongside a team of world‑class engineers solving some of the hardest challenges in scaling optical systems. Every line of code, every design decision, every breakthrough you help deliver will shape the infrastructure of tomorrow.

If you’re looking for mission, momentum, and the chance to make an outsized impact, jump on the rocket ship. We’re just getting started.

Position Overview

Lumilens is seeking a hands‑on and detail‑oriented Factory Site Manager to oversee day‑to‑day production operations for our next‑generation 800G and 1.6T optical transceiver manufacturing lines. This role is responsible for supervising production operators, ensuring adherence to optical assembly procedures, monitoring production output, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives that drive yield, throughput, and quality.

The Site Supervisor works closely with process, test, and manufacturing engineers to ensure the production floor executes build plans accurately and consistently. This position requires strong leadership, knowledge of optical/electronics manufacturing processes, and the ability to maintain a disciplined, high‑quality shop floor environment for advanced optical modules.

Key Responsibilities
Production & Operation Control
  • Oversee day‑to‑day production execution for 800G and 1.6T transceiver assembly and test lines, ensuring build plans, quality targets, and delivery schedules are met.

  • Build a new product prototyping and testing environment adjacent to our factories. This prototype line will be used for NPI development and to train all new engineers and operators on the production processes for optical transceivers and silicon photonics.

  • Monitor production output including product quantity, scrap, first‑pass yield, defects, and WIP/inventory control.

  • Ensure operators follow correct optical handling procedures—cleanroom discipline, fiber handling, ESD protocols, and optical safety.

  • Coordinate with engineering teams to support smooth transitions from pilot builds to high‑volume production, with timely feedback on DFM, DFT and quality.

  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate production operators to improve individual and line performance.

  • Ensure staff competency in optical module assembly processes such as fiber alignment, die attach, wirebond, and precision bonding techniques.

  • Manage the general operation of the facility, including operational and capital spending plans, recruiting, training, and cultivating a great working culture.

  • Promote a culture of accountability, efficiency, and continuous improvement.

  • Support cross‑training to build a flexible, multi‑skilled workforce.

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
  • Drive productivity and efficiency improvements through strong adherence to 5S, standard work, and safety practices.

  • Lead and participate in root‑cause investigations using 5 Why, fishbone analysis, and process mapping.

  • Support capacity ramp efforts as production volumes scale for next‑generation optical modules.

  • Maintain accurate daily reports on production status, issues, and key performance indicators.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Industrial Management, or any related field.

  • 7–10 years of manufacturing experience; experience in optical transceivers, optical components, fiber assembly, or electronics manufacturing is strongly preferred.

  • Prior experience in a production supervisor or team lead role in a high‑volume environment.

  • Solid understanding of production control, WIP management, and line balancing.

  • Able to work rotating day and night shifts.

  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal, in English.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and familiar with shop‑floor management/MES systems.

*All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, religious creed, sex, national origin, ancestry, age, physical or mental disability, medical condition, genetic information, military and veteran status, marital status, pregnancy, gender, gender expression, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by local law, regulation, or ordinance.
