As a ServiceDesigner, you will:

[Roles & Responsibilities]

Activities
  • Scope, plan and execute exploratory, generative and evaluative research
  • Understand the underlying connections, gaps, parallels, etc to form a POV on the context and possible interventions from existing data/patterns/behaviours/interactions
  • Zoom in and out of the different layers/connection points in a system and frame issues/interventions from a strategic view that accounts for both users and stakeholders in various contexts
  • Scope and create experiments to test hypotheses for services across multiple touch points
Deliverables
  • Translate research into foundation level concepts - whether interaction, spatial or product - that a designer can realise
Communication
  • Articulate or build a narrative that communicates your thought process, findings, the value of design or proposed strategy
Collaboration
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members and clients
Lead & Mentoring
  • Create an environment that allows for the team to leverage each other's skills, knowledge and work from research all the way through prototyping
Community

Attend and help to plan studio and community events, workshops, and conferences as a Song ambassador

Your experience:
Relevant experience/portfolio
  • Relevant experience in service design or related role such as user experience design or design research
  • Proven history of delivering results on time and within budget
  • Experience in running online and offline workshops
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of existing and emerging service design tools and methods
Tool
  • Working knowledge of various service design tools and methodologies
Communication
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with the ability to present work to executives and large teams, articulate design rationales and defend design decisions
Attitude
  • Collaborative team-player with a can-do attitude who is passionate about service design, creating human-centered services
Working context
  • Accustomed to working collaboratively with clients and cross-functional team members through agile or waterfall process

  • Experience producing user experience design deliverables such as screen flows, wireframes and prototypes
  • Experience quantitative research methodologies and drawing insights from data
  • Comfort with ambiguity yet unstoppable drive to create order out of chaos
  • Ability to communicate with clients and partners about design methodologies and artefacts

Note: The Service Designer will collaborate closely with a Product Designer to lead a workstream, so the ideal candidate must be capable of working independently and taking ownership of deliverables.
