1. Job Purpose
The Senior Trading Executive supports the trading team in executing oil trading strategies, managing counterparties, and ensuring smooth coordination across the full trading chain. This role requires strong market knowledge, analytical capability, and the ability to handle fast-paced commercial environments.
2. Key Responsibilities
A. Trading & Market Monitoring
- Execute trades for gasoil, jet fuel, fuel oil, or related oil products under guidance of the Trading Director.
- Monitor daily market movements, pricing trends, news updates, and regional supply-demand dynamics.
- Prepare market reports, price updates, and trading recommendations.
- Assist in managing trading books, reviewing P&L, and monitoring exposure.
B. Counterparty Management
- Maintain and develop relationships with suppliers, brokers, and customers.
- Coordinate with counterparties to resolve commercial or operational issues promptly.
- Support negotiation of pricing, terms, and deal structures.
C. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Work closely with Operations, Chartering, and Finance teams to ensure each trade is fulfilled smoothly from start to finish.
- Provide product knowledge and market insights to internal teams to support accurate costing, credit approval, and shipping decisions.
- Assist in preparing deal entries, confirmations, and documentation.
D. Internal Support & Knowledge Sharing
- Support the Trading Director in strategy execution and book management.
- Share knowledge on oil products, market behavior, and trading practices with junior team members.
- Provide guidance to Operations, Chartering, and Finance teams on trade flow and deal requirements.
E. Compliance & Risk Awareness
- Ensure trading activities comply with company policies, contractual terms, KYC/AML requirements, and applicable regulations.
- Monitor potential risks and raise issues to management promptly.
3. Requirements & Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in oil trading, brokerage, or with oil majors or trading houses.
- Prior experience in executing trades or supporting trading desks in the region is required.
Skills
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and pricing structures.
- Proven ability to analyze oil markets and support independent trading decisions.
- Ability to handle high-pressure, fast-paced trading environments.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work with multicultural teams.
- Willingness to travel regionally to meet suppliers and customers when required.
- Flexibility to work after office hours if market conditions necessitate.
- Ability to work effectively within a Vietnamese business culture is an advantage.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering, or related fields.
