A government agency in environmental research is seeking a Senior Research Scientist to lead research on sea level rise and its impacts. The role requires a PhD in oceanography or related disciplines and 5 years of post-graduate experience. Successful candidates will have a strong publication record and excellent communication skills. This position offers a chance to engage with international experts and contribute to societal benefits through climate change research.
The Centre for Climate Research Singapore (CCRS) is a division of the Meteorological Service Singapore (MSS). At CCRS, our mission is to advance scientific understanding of tropical climate variability and change and its associated weather systems affecting Singapore and the wider Southeast Asia region, so that the knowledge and expertise can benefit decision makers and the community.
Located within CCRS’s Department of Climate Research (DCR), the Climate Change Impacts (CCI) Branch focuses its research on four key priority areas that have been developed in consultation with Singapore stakeholder agencies: (a) sea level rise; (b) urban climate change; (c) water supply and flood management; and (d) impact of warming trends on the heat and human health nexus. Together, these research efforts will support Singapore stakeholders’ planning and decision‑making processes on climate change adaptation.
CCRS is offering an exciting job opportunity for an experienced sea level scientist with a strong background in oceanography or a related discipline to join the CCI Branch to contribute to a better understanding of sea level rise and variability, especially future projections of sea level rise and its impacts.
