Job description

The National Quantum Federated Foundry (NQFF), hosted at the Institute of Materials Research and Engineering (IMRE), part of the Agency for Science, Technology, and Research (A*STAR), is looking for a research engineer with a background in optics/photonics, mechanical design and electronics. The successful candidate will be part of a team of research scientists and engineers working on devices and hardware for quantum technologies, including integrated photonics chips, ion trap systems, superconducting devices, and so on. The work in NQFF will support local and international efforts to develop and translate quantum technologies to realize exciting real-world applications.

The roles of the successful candidate will include partly or wholly depending of experience:

  • Perform photonic and electrical characterization on fabricated devices
  • Construct optical and electrical measurement setups for device testing
  • Design and build mechanical components to support the assembly of test instruments
  • Analysis and presentation of scientific data

Job requirements:

  • Bachelor degree in physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, material science & engineering, mechanical engineering, or any other relevant disciplines with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience with the characterization and testing of integrated devices, including electronic and photonic circuits
  • Familiarity with optomechanical measurement instruments. experimental data acquisition and analysis
  • Experience in micro/nano-fabrication is a bonus
  • Experience in mechanical design with CAD software is a bonus
  • Ability to program (especially Python) lab equipment for testing automation
  • Ability to communicate well and work closely with team members
