Job summary

A leading engineering firm in Singapore is seeking a Quantity Surveyor to handle cost estimation, contract management, and client reporting. The ideal candidate has a degree in Quantity Surveying, chartered status with RICS, and experience with local regulations and tender processes. Proficiency in cost management software is essential, as well as strong leadership and analytical skills. This role demands active involvement in both public and private sector projects.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Quantity Surveying or similar.
  • Chartered status with RICS preferred.
  • Experience with DP and Credit Bureau ratings.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates.
  • Manage tender processes and evaluate bids.
  • Draft and administer contracts.

Job description
Key Responsibilities
  • Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost plans and estimates from feasibility through to final accounts.
  • Tendering & Procurement: Manage tender processes, evaluate bids, and advise on contractor selection.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and administer contracts (often using standard forms like FIDIC, JCT, or NEC).
  • Valuations & Payments: Assess progress claims, variations, and issue interim and final payments.
  • Risk & Value Management: Identify cost risks and opportunities to optimize value for money.
  • Reporting: Provide regular financial reports to clients and stakeholders, including cash flow forecasts and cost-to-complete analyses.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor junior QS staff and coordinate with project managers, engineers, and clients.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Education: Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Certifications: Often chartered with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) or similar bodies.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Proficiency in cost management software (e.g., CostX, CATO, Bluebeam)
    • Strong understanding of construction methods and materials
