Job Purpose

Datalec Precision Installations (DPI) is a leading provider of data centre design, supply, build, and managed services. We are committed to delivering seamless and integrated solutions for data centre operators worldwide. Our team is dedicated to maintaining high standards of service and excellence in every project we undertake.

We are seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor who will be responsible for all financial aspects of the project, working closely with Project Managers and Directors. Responsible for the evaluation, negotiation, management, and mitigation of commercial and contractual risks on the contract for DPI. The role is to provide commercial input, advice on commercial opportunities and savings to the management and the project team. To maximise the commercial benefit of all contracts. To manage and secure payment for contract variation and contractual claims. Ensuring that timely and appropriate contract notices and correspondence are issued. Project risk management and review of documentation as post-contract commercial on individual contracts and projects.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Report to the EVP APAC / Head of Commercial to ensure proactive cost control throughout business activities.
  • Compile and deliver comprehensive financial reports
  • Oversee the Bid Process for Future Opportunities
  • Administer cost and variation procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Perform full contract surveying duties, including establishing the effect of variations, settlement of accounts and dispute.s
  • Advise, guide and support on Procurement
  • Compile Subcontract Orders and material Purchase Orders.
  • Represent the company in attending client meetings as required.
  • Conduct monthly valuations to ensure financial accuracy.
  • Prepare Cost Value Comparison (Profit & Loss) reports for monthly review.
  • Ensure commercial assessment of bids and the projects are assessed correctly, and risks are identified using appropriate management tools, as well as adhering to the process.
  • Engage with the pre-construction / project management team to ensure Health and Safety budgets and considerations are sufficiently supportive of deliverables and expedite any Health and Safety matters arising.
  • Run weekly cost and reports as well as review with the project managers to highlight variance on each project.
  • Liaise with the project manager to carry out reviews of progress against contract margins.
  • Tracking changes to design and contract that impact budget targets set by the business.
  • Undertake any other work required to maintain the project to the timelines set up.
  • Liaise and develop the initial project budget and agree on a detailed cost plan with the commercial manager.
  • Adherence to business processes and operations within the Construction ERP Management system
  • Mentor and support the junior members of the commercial department.
  • Represent the business, upholding our core values and behaviours with all internal and external customers, clients and third parties.
  • Maintain business and client confidentiality, adhering to applicable Data Protection regulations and Information Security Standards in line with company and group policies and procedures.
Essential Skills and Knowledge
  • Experience of working within similar roles
  • Related degree preferred but not required
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Good level of numeracy
  • IT skills – MS Office, Excel, Project, Word, etc
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Working to deadlines
  • Well organised
  • A driving license is preferable.
  • Be willing to travel within Europe if required.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Proficiency in Bahasa Indonesia or Malay and Mandarin is highly desirable.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills across languages are an advantage.
