Job summary

A leading healthcare institution in Singapore is looking for a Microbiology Technician to perform diagnostic procedures and ensure the quality of laboratory results. The role involves maintaining laboratory equipment, coaching new staff, and complying with safety practices. Candidates should have a diploma or degree in Medical Technology/Biotechnology/Biomedical Science, with 2 to 5 years of experience preferred but entry-level candidates are welcomed. Attention to detail and a willingness to work weekends are essential.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of identifying microorganisms and urine crystals is an advantage.

Responsibilities

  • Perform diagnostic procedures for Microbiology according to SOP.
  • Ensure quality and timeliness of laboratory results.
  • Document and file reports and documents properly.
  • Maintain inventory for supplies.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance and quality control.
  • Monitor quality assurance measures and implement corrective actions.
  • Coach trainees and new staff.
  • Comply with laboratory policies and safety practices.

Job description
Job Responsibilities
  • Perform diagnostic procedures for Microbiology according to SOP.

  • Undertake related laboratory activities to ensure quality and timeliness of results.

  • Practice proper documentation and filing of reports and documents

  • Maintain inventory for supplies.

  • Perform and document routine preventive maintenance, quality control and calibration of laboratory analyzers.

  • Monitor quality control and quality assurance measures. Institute corrective action, if needed.

  • Assist with coaching of trainees and new staff.

  • Comply with good laboratory and safety practices as set out in laboratory policies and MOH guidelines

Job Requirements
  • At least a Diploma/Degree in Medical Technology/Biotechnology/Biomedical Science

  • 2 to 5 years of working experience in Microbiology is preferred. Entry level candidates are welcomed

  • Knowledge on identifying microorganism and urine crystals is an advantage.

  • Must be focused, meticulous and has an eye for detail

  • Able to work independently as well as a good team player with initiative and adaptive to changes

  • Willing to work on weekends and public holidays
