YOUR ROLE
  • As a Senior Legal Counsel for the Singapore Legal team, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing all legal aspects of CEVA’s operations in Singapore and also South-East Asia.
  • Your responsibilities will include providing expert legal advice, drafting and negotiating contracts (predominantly Air and Ocean contracts), supporting with customer legal disputes, and ensuring compliance with internal corporate governance standards.
  • This role requires a senior, proactive and independent professional who can collaborate with senior leaders, support the General Counsel APAC, and contribute to the strategic and operational success of the business.
  • You will be able to operate independently, and you will serve as a subject matter expert on all legal matters within the business and provide back‑up support for the General Counsel APAC.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
  • Contract Review and Negotiation: Lead the drafting, review and negotiation of customer contracts across Singapore and SEA (mainly Air and Ocean, though not exclusively) and supplier contracts (where necessary), property lease agreements, and related documentation to minimize legal risks and support optimal business outcomes.
  • Legal Advisory: Provide timely, industry‑specific legal advice on contract law, international maritime law, dispute resolution and regulatory compliance, especially in respect of Singapore laws.
  • Risk Mitigation: Manage claims and disputes, including preparing and negotiating settlements, while developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies.
  • Training and Development: Develop and deliver training programs on CEVA’s Business Rules and legal compliance for the Singapore business.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including executive leadership, to align legal strategies with business objectives (particularly with respect to the Air and Ocean business).
  • Reporting & Tools Management: Oversee the preparation of and work closely with the A&O Cargo Claims manager in relation to monthly litigation claims reports and manage CEVA’s centralized contract management tool.
  • Regulatory Updates: Monitor and communicate Singapore-based legislative and regulatory changes, updating precedents and drafting business communications as needed.
  • Cross-Regional Support: Provide legal support to stakeholders across South‑East Asia, leveraging language skills where applicable to enhance communication and outcomes.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
  • Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Law from a recognised institution, or equivalent qualification.
  • At least 10 years of post‑qualification experience (PQE), preferably gained in the private sector or as in‑house legal counsel.
  • Prior experience within the logistics industry and/or with multinational corporations or reputable law firms.
  • Solid understanding of leases, property law, and related legal frameworks.
  • Proven ability to manage and engage diverse stakeholders across all organisational levels.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation, problem‑solving, and time‑management abilities.
  • High attention to detail, with a proactive and collaborative approach as a team player.
