Job description

We are representing our client in the marine sector to look for a "Senior Executive/Assistant Manager", insurance to assist Group General Counsel in managing the group’s insurance such as Protection & Indemnity, Hull & Machinery, corporate, business and project insurance policies globally to ensure the insurable interests of the company's group companies and its global operations are protected.

Responsibilities
Insurance Operations
  • Working with the Group General Counsel to report to the organisation on cover arrangements, premiums and recoveries.
  • Liaise with brokers on documentation, coverage issues and hull claims to assist commercial hubs or in coordination with the fleet operation team.
  • Engage/coordinate with relevant brokers and group’s relevant offices to ensure timely renewal of all annual corporate and business insurance policies globally (e.g. professional indemnity, workers compensation, comprehensive general liability, marine cargo, directors and officers, travel, business interruption, cyber security, public liability, property all risk, auto liability).
  • Prepare the report, presentation of claims record for the purpose of insurance renewals.
  • Instruct Broker to arrange and place appropriate insurance programmes to protect the organization
  • Resolve insurance queries from departments and third parties.
  • Explore extra war risk insurance cover, piracy cover, K&R, Loss of Hire insurance cover.
  • Maintain proper record for all insurance covers, premiums, policies, loss records in the system.
Contract Insurance Reviews
  • Review and identify issues in policy wordings.
  • Timely review of all contracts to ensure terms and conditions agreed within the contract are covered by existing insurance covers available and propose amendments to bring contractual liabilities under existing insurance covers.
  • If required, additional insurance has to be put in place in order to carve out onerous liabilities. Claims Handling
  • Ensure all claims are filed and notified to brokers/underwriters timely.
  • Maximize and expedite the recovery of claims by working closely with brokers, loss adjusters, insurers and internal stakeholders.
Business Partnering
  • Provide training to key stakeholders (e.g. superintendents, commercial managers) in ensuring potential insurance claims are submitted timely.
  • Data Analysis and Loss Prevention
  • Identify loss trends and severity of losses and recommend appropriate corrective actions in loss prevention, avoidance and mitigation.
  • Monthly reporting on trends of various claims and its incident frequency to GGC.
  • Compile claim statistics and reports to GGC periodically, including but not limited to claims listing and loss record to.
  • Liaise with Average Adjustor in the event of General Average declaration
  • Assist the fleet management arm to liaise with appointed Average Adjustor for Particular Average claims.
Requirements
  • Degree in Engineering / Business / Insurance from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years of experiences working in the Marine insurance industry. Candidates with more experience be considered for Assistant Manager level.
  • Familiarity with insurance policies common in the shipping industry, like professional indemnity, Hull and Machinery, all risk, marine cargo, comprehensive general liability, products liability, public liability, directors and officer insurance and employers’ liability.
  • Well versed with insurance terms and conditions, common endorsements/ exclusions, typical costs of different insurance policies.
  • Good interpersonal and strong leadership skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to inspire confidence at all levels within the business.
