Job Summary

You will play a key role in supporting the General Secretary & CEO to elevate the organisation’s presence and voice. This includes strengthening media engagement, shaping impactful narratives, and providing strategic corporate communications support that advances YMCA’s mission and deepens its connection with the community.

Job Responsibilities
  • Develop and deliver compelling, mission-aligned content to engage both staff and the public by planning and producing written, visual, and multimedia materials for social media, website, email, and corporate platforms; manage social media channels and strengthen digital presence through SEO-aligned content and email campaigns; capture photos, videos, and stories that showcase impact; collaborate across departments to identify content opportunities; and ensure all communications uphold YMCA’s brand, tone, and outreach goals.
  • Work closely with media outlets, journalists, and Key Opinion Leaders to drive positive coverage and strengthen YMCA’s public profile. This includes crafting press releases, media kits, speeches, and key talking points, as well as providing on-ground support for media engagement during events and announcements.
  • Build, secure, and manage strategic partnerships that enhance the organisation’s credibility, broaden visibility, and amplify awareness of YMCA’s mission and services, while nurturing long‑term relationships that support community impact and organisational growth.
  • Serve as YMCA’s brand guardian by leading the ongoing refinement of the Corporate Identity including updates to the Brand Book, development of brand‑aligned communication templates, and thorough review of communication materials across departments to ensure clarity, accuracy, and consistent representation of the organisation’s brand and tone.
  • Support key corporate communications matters, including the timely production of the Annual Report, support during the AGM, management of organisation publicity spaces, and coordination of internal communications to keep staff informed and engaged.
  • Assist in streamlining department workflow processes by maintaining the internal information site and developing clear resources, SOPs, and guidelines for seamless team operations.
  • Perform ad hoc or administrative tasks assigned to support the smooth functioning of the department, including coordinating logistics, preparing materials, and assisting with special projects or events.
Job Requirements
  • Ability to create compelling content across multiple formats, including writing speeches, press releases, and other communication materials, as well as capturing and producing multimedia assets such as photos and videos for digital and social media platforms.
  • Highly organised with strong creative and strategic thinking, able to balance big‑picture planning with implementation, and skilled at interpreting insights from data and analytics to inform strategy and drive data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong interpersonal abilities to build rapport with team members and stakeholders, and a self‑starter with effective time and project management skills. Able to multitask and work collaboratively in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Excel) and experience with digital tools, including Google Analytics, Meltwater, CapCut, Mailchimp, Canva, and with added knowledge of Adobe Photoshop. Experience with WordPress for website updates, content management, and basic website building or maintenance is preferred.
  • Degree or Diploma from a recognised university in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Event Management, or a related field, with at least 3 years of experience in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, or relevant Marketing Communications preferred.
