Job description
Job Title: Cake Artist & Instructor (Fondant Specialist)

Role Summary

We are seeking a skilled Cake Artist & Instructor with minimum 3–5 years of professional cake-decorating experience, specializing in fondant making, sculpting, and finishing. This role combines hands‑on cake production with teaching responsibilities, guiding learners through structured cake artistry classes while maintaining professional bakery standards.

Core Job Scope
  1. Cake Production & Fondant Artistry
    • Produce high‑quality fondant cakes, including covering, smoothing, and detailed modeling (figurines, toppers, sculpted elements).
    • Advanced shaping, stacking, and structural support for custom orders such as wedding cakes, celebration cakes, 3D/ sculpted cakes, and corporate or branded cakes (logos, themed designs).
    • Perform cake assembly: leveling, filling, crumb‑coating, frosting, and ganache work, ensuring consistency in size, proportion, design accuracy, and finishing quality.
    • Maintain production timelines while ensuring premium craftsmanship.
  2. Class Instruction & Student Guidance
    • Conduct cake‑decorating classes (group or private) focused on fondant basics to advanced techniques, sculpting, figurine making, floral work, textures, color mixing, dusting, painting, and realistic effects.
    • Demonstrate techniques clearly and guide students step‑by‑step; prepare lesson materials and ensure class set‑up with tools, ingredients, and samples.
    • Provide constructive feedback and coaching; adapt teaching style to learners’ skill levels.
  3. Curriculum Development & Class Management
    • Assist in developing or improving lesson plans: beginner, intermediate, advanced tracks, and workshop modules (e.g., 3D cake sculpting, character modeling).
    • Create sample cakes and reference designs for upcoming classes; ensure class flow is structured, engaging, and aligned with learning outcomes.
    • Support studio/admin team with scheduling and class preparation needs.
  4. Quality, Hygiene & Studio Maintenance
    • Ensure food safety compliance and cleanliness of workstations, equipment, and storage.
    • Track fondant, ingredients, and supplies; notify for restock needs.
    • Maintain proper temperature control and storage to protect cake quality; minimize wastage and ensure consistent production efficiency.
Experience & Skill Requirements (3–5+ Years Minimum)
Must Have
  • Minimum 3–5 years experience in professional cake decorating/bakery production.
  • Strong proficiency in fondant making, including homemade fondant knowledge (optional but strong advantage), fondant rolling, covering, sharp edges, seam handling.
  • Modeling, sculpting, and detailed finishing skills.
  • Ability to work independently on custom cakes and meet deadlines.
  • Confident teaching or mentoring experience (prior instructor experience preferred).
Nice to Have
  • Experience in gum paste flowers, sugar flowers, wafer paper designs.
  • Knowledge of cake structure (tiered cakes, dowel systems).
  • Ability to create realistic figurines and complex sculpting.
  • Social media/photography knowledge for class documentation.
