We are looking for a strategic, people‑centred, and proactive individual to lead a team that develops and implements integrated communications strategies showcasing “made‑in‑Singapore” science, technology, and innovation. The individual will play a key leadership role in guiding and mentoring a team of officers, building strong relationships across A*STARs research entities, and ensuring that our communications amplify A*STAR's contributions to Singapore's economy and national priorities.

The ideal candidate combines strategic thinking with hands‑on communications experience, has a strong instinct for identifying impactful stories, and can provide clear direction and counsel on communications strategy, stakeholder engagement, and media relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Team leadership: Lead and mentor a team of Managers/Senior Managers to deliver high-quality, impactful communications outcomes.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Build trusted relationships with key internal stakeholders and external partners (media, government agencies, and industry) to facilitate effective communications and collaboration.
  • Strategic planning: Develop and oversee integrated communications strategies to promote A*STAR's R&D outcomes and partnerships, ensuring consistent messaging across platforms.
  • Media and publicity management: Oversee media engagement and publicity efforts, providing strategic direction on story development, media pitching, and issue management.
  • Issues and crisis communications: Anticipate potential communications risks and lead the formulation of timely and effective responses.
  • Strategic counsel: Provide guidance to senior management and research entities on all aspects of corporate communications, including branding, media relations, social media, and executive engagements.

This role reports to the Deputy Director, Corporate Communications.

Requirements

  • Proven ability to develop and implement integrated communications strategies across multiple channels.
  • Demonstrated track record in strategic media engagement and stakeholder management.
  • Excellent communicator with strong writing, storytelling, and presentation skills, and the ability to translate complex science and technology topics into relatable narratives.
