Secondary Economics & Business Teacher

Salary from about S$6k per month plus benefits such as housing allowance, tuition for dependent children, medical insurance and flights. Start date: August 2026. Location: Singapore.

The school is seeking an inspirational Teacher of Economics & Business to join an expanding Senior School community from August 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the school’s academic provision as the school grows from a first‑class Prep School into one of the region’s leading all‑through schools, offering education from Pre‑Nursery to Year 13.

Role
  • Lead all aspects of Economics and Business education across the Senior School, ensuring the highest standards of teaching, learning and academic enrichment.
  • Be responsible for the teaching, progress and attainment of all Year 12 pupils in Economics and Business from August 2026, extending this responsibility to Year 13 as the school grows.
  • Work with the Head of Maths to teach and support pupils in Key Stage 3 Maths.
  • Lead on Key Stage 5 curriculum planning and delivery, including preparation for the first A‑level Economics and A‑level Business cohorts commencing with Year 12 in August 2026.
  • Oversee all aspects of assessment, tracking and reporting, ensuring pupils are supported to achieve outstanding academic outcomes across both subjects.
  • Demonstrate the experience and expertise to teach Economics and Business effectively at A‑level.
  • Act as an outstanding classroom practitioner, modelling best practice, analytical thinking and high expectations in teaching and learning.
  • Implement rigorous systems of departmental self‑evaluation and continuous improvement, ensuring teaching reflects current best practice and real‑world application in the Economics and Business curriculums.
  • Design, lead and administer a comprehensive co‑curricular programme, including clubs, competitions and enrichment opportunities to develop financial literacy, enterprise and problem‑solving skills with the IGCSE and Sixth Form cohorts.
  • Develop and coordinate an annual calendar of Economics and Business events, such as workshops, conferences and competitions, collaborating with colleagues across the school.
  • Support and guide pupils applying to leading universities and business‑related programmes, including Oxford, Cambridge and other world‑class institutions.
  • Ensure pupils are well‑prepared for both internal and external competitions, including Olympiads, business challenges and enterprise contests.
  • Work closely with the Heads of EAL and AEN to develop tailored pathways for pupils requiring additional support.
  • Contribute to the school’s pastoral system and act as a Sixth Form tutor.
  • Uphold the highest standards of safeguarding.
  • Undertake any other reasonable management requests in support of the school’s mission, vision and values.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics or Business, with PGCE or equivalent.
  • Expert knowledge or experience of successfully delivering Economics A‑level and Business A‑level.
  • Superb writing and speaking abilities.
  • International school experience (preferred).
  • Exemplifies the school's values of Curiosity, Confidence and Kindness.
  • An international outlook and understanding of working in diverse environments.
