Job Overview

We are seeking a Scientist to implement the research and development of high-performance anisotropic crystalline materials. This role focuses on the synthesis, phase optimization, and microstructural engineering of metallic compounds designed for high-energy density applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Microstructural Engineering: Design and optimize grain boundary chemistry and phase distribution to enhance intrinsic material properties.
  • Process Innovation: Implement R&D efforts in vacuum induction melting, strip casting, and sophisticated powder metallurgy techniques (micron-level milling and orientation).
  • Characterization & Analysis: Utilize SEM/EDX and XRD to correlate processing parameters with material performance.
  • Thermal Stability Research: Develop strategies to improve performance consistency under extreme thermal and environmental conditions.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the production team to translate laboratory-scale breakthroughs into high-yield manufacturing processes.
Required Qualifications & Experience
  • PhD in Materials Science, Solid-State Physics, Metallurgy or a related field
  • In-depth understanding of crystalline anisotropy
  • Hands-on experience with oxygen-sensitive material handling and inert atmosphere processing
  • Familiarity with sintering kinetics and post-sintering thermal treatments
  • Minimum of 3–5 years working in industrial R&D setting focusing on functional metallic alloys or intermetallic compounds
  • Strong proficiency in English; Mandarin and/or other additional language skills are an advantage for global collaboration
  • Requires frequent travel, with approximately 50% of time based in Singapore and 50% overseas
