Job Description

The Institute of Policy Studies (IPS) is an autonomous research centre under the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, National University of Singapore. IPS conducts research on Singapore public policy and engages actively with policymakers and the public.

We are seeking a Research Assistant (Special Projects, 2 Years Contract) to support IPS’ editorial and content initiatives, as well as the S R Nathan Fellowship for the Study of Singapore. This role offers opportunities to contribute to IPS Commons, mainstream media commentaries, podcasts, newsletters, and public communications, while gaining exposure to policy discussions and IPS research projects.

The job scope includes:

  • Researching developments in a range of public policy areas
  • Generating ideas for podcasts, and editing commentaries on various public policy topic for IPS Commons
  • Attending IPS events and writing reports for the e-newsletter
  • Managing the IPS e-newsletter and publications (administrative, writing and editing duties)
  • Monitoring and reporting on relevant media reports
  • Provide research and administrative support for IPS’ S R Nathan Fellow for the Study of Singapore, and the IPS Public Affairs department
Requirement
  • Possesses a strong academic background with a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences or Public Policy from a reputable university
  • Ability to manage time effectively and meet tight deadlines
  • Strong research, writing, and editing skills, with attention to accuracy and detail
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in Singapore publlc issues and politics
  • Resourceful and adaptable in managing tasks and projects
  • Journalistic and digital media experience will be an added advantage
