Overview

THK MC was incorporated on 13 October 2011 as a charity to provide multiple social and welfare services to the community at large, and achieved an Institute of Public Character (IPC) status on 18 November 2011. THK MC is the charitable arm of Thye Hua Kwan Moral Society, which lives by the mission - To Serve Mankind - to help anyone who needs help regardless of their race, religion, colour, language, creed and culture. THK MC today serves more than 70,000 beneficiaries through more than 70 programmes across five Services, which include Disability, Early Intervention for Children, Family, Seniors\' Community, and Therapy.

Responsibilities

THK Early Intervention for Children (EIC) Services helps equip children with motor, communication, social, self-help and cognitive skills. THK EIC involves structuring classes around small groups encompassing early childhood special education, social work and therapy support services to stimulate their adaptive functioning and school readiness skills.

We are seeking applications for a Research Assistant to join us as part of our research unit. The suitable candidate will be responsible for managing a range of tasks related to the research projects. He/ she must be able to work well with our research unit, external consultants and our large team of early intervention professionals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Liaise with research participants, members of the research unit and other EIPIC professionals
  • Carry out data collection, data entry and data analysis
  • Manage administrative tasks related to the research projects e.g. coordinating meetings, scheduling research tasks, requesting for information etc
  • Conduct literature searches in academic journals
  • Assist in preparation of research reports, findings and presentations to stakeholders
  • Conduct fieldwork when required
Qualifications
  • Bachelor\'s degree in psychology, early childhood education, cognitive neuroscience or related disciplines from an accredited university
  • Expertise in Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Good time management and communication skills
  • Analytical in thinking; organised and meticulous with all tasks
Other information
  • Experience/Interest in Early Childhood/Early Intervention/Social Services
  • Experience working in large multi-disciplinary teams preferred
  • Experience working on qualitative/quantitative research projects

This position is offered as a one-year contract, subjected to renewal upon review.
