Responsibilities

• Inspecting and measuring areas to estimate required materials.
• Removing old materials and repairing surfaces.

• Mixing adhesives as required.
• Cutting materials to the required length.
• Applying adhesive to the material backs.
• Hanging strips on the ceiling and aligning them.
• Finishing by smoothing out wrinkles and trimming excess material.

Job description

Surface Preparation

• Inspecting and Measuring:Reviewing work orders or blueprints and measuring the ceiling area to estimate materials (rolls of paper/fabric, adhesive, etc.) needed.
• Removing Old Material:Stripping existing wallpaper, paint, or other coverings using water, steam, or chemical solvents and scrapers.
• Repairing Surfaces:Filling holes, cracks, and other imperfections with plaster or a similar compound.
• Smoothing and Cleaning:Sanding rough spots to create a smooth finish and cleaning the surface to remove dirt, grease, or paint residue.
• Sealing:Applying a sizing or thinned glue to waterproof porous surfaces and maximize adhesion.

Installation

• Mixing Adhesives:Preparing paste or adhesives from powder and water as required.
• Cutting Material:Measuring and precisely cutting strips of wallpaper or fabric to the required length using shears or razors.
• Applying Adhesive:Applying paste to the material backs or moistening prepasted paper.
• Hanging and Alignment:Placing the strips on the ceiling, carefully aligning edges and patterns to create a seamless finish.
• Finishing:Using brushes, rollers, or straightedges to smooth out wrinkles and bubbles, smooth joints, and trim excess material at edges.
