Job Description and Responsibilities

Job Purpose

Trade Finance/Corporate Lending Function manages banking needs across the product spectrum for large corporate entities. The primary product lines include assets, liabilities, trade finance and fee or commission‑based products for corporates in Singapore. The role of a Relationship Manager is to build and manage rapport with corporate clients and map their requirements with the bank’s products and services to ensure optimum customer acquisition, retention and income generation, offering various products such as assets, liabilities, trade and treasury business.

Job Responsibilities
Business Development – Existing client relationship management
  • Strong knowledge of trade finance products (LC, buyer credit, export finance)
  • Scoping of existing client base in India‑based corporate, ECG, MNC and PSU portfolio to identify new opportunities for the bank in the Singapore market on a continuous basis.
  • Overall responsibility to maintain strong relationships, become the “first point of call” and achieve the budgeted revenue from the portfolio.
  • Regular interactions/meetings with clients to identify potential opportunities and offer suitable products and services.
  • Joint calling with other product and service teams to ensure cross‑sell of products, service delivery and create multiple touchpoints for continuity.
  • Joint calling with the credit team to identify new opportunities and potential stress indicators for the bank and maintain overall portfolio health.
Business Development – New client acquisition
  • Identify and develop potential customers for the bank in Singapore.
  • Identify opportunities in the syndication market and work with banks in Singapore for participation and sell‑down.
  • Identify opportunities among Singapore‑domiciled large corporates and offer banking solutions in line with the bank’s strategy.
  • Acquire new relationships, including MNCs and commodity trading companies, through regular follow‑up/meetings and value‑add offerings to induce conversions.
Product penetration & cross‑sell
  • Generate and identify new opportunities by understanding the client’s needs and cross‑sell suitable products.
Increase in wallet share
  • Increase the bank’s share in existing products used by clients by offering value additions and customisations.
Internal processes and coordination
  • Prepare credit appraisals for existing and new corporates to secure deal sanctioning.
  • Analyse financial statements for deal structuring and credit decisioning.
  • Credit monitoring and maintenance for portfolio health.
  • Coordinate with various internal stakeholders to ensure timely service and product delivery to clients.
  • Responsible for housekeeping in terms of periodic internal memos and deferrals.
Knowledge building and market intelligence
  • Remain updated on regulations and internal guidelines concerning corporate banking.
  • Share important information and market updates with peers that may impact deal structuring.
  • Interact with competitors and stay aware of market practices to capture new or emerging opportunities.
  • Take initiatives beyond normal work expectations to aid the overall team target.
  • Generate ideas for increasing business by offering innovative solutions or products.
Educational Qualifications

Candidate must possess an MBA/CA/ICWA/CFA with 8+ years of relevant experience.
