Job summary

A fast-growing medtech company in Singapore is seeking an R&D Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to the development of advanced surgical robots. The role involves providing mechanical design expertise, including the design of mechanisms and structures for innovative medical technologies. Ideal candidates will have relevant experience in mechanical engineering and product development cycles, proficiency in SolidWorks, and a strong understanding of mechanical structures. Qualifications

R&D Mechanical Design Engineer (Principal / Senior / Mechanical Design Engineer)

Our client is a fast growing medtech company who is developing advanced surgical robots that make surgical operations safer, faster, and less invasive. With the HQ in China, Singapore houses the R&D center and the local team of researchers and product development engineers works on cutting-edge technology for procedures like biopsies and keyhole surgeries. By combining robotics, AI, and smart design, they’re helping shape the future of surgery — making it more precise and patient-friendly. We are currently hiring for the new headcount of R&D Mechanical Design Engineer.

Responsibilities
  • As part of the Mechanical Design team; you will provide mechanical and mechanism engineering expertise in the R&D of surgical robotic system.
  • This includes designing mechanisms, structures and integrating actuators, motion components, and sensors to achieve innovative product functionalities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor or Master’s in Mechanical Engineering with hands‑on experience in the structure design & development of surgical robotic system or surgical instrument.
  • You should have finished at least one full cycle of product development.
  • Strong technical capability in mechanism design and fabrication of precision or micro instruments.
  • Strong technical capability to understand designs for mechanical structure and electro‑mechanical assemblies.
  • Good knowledge of various materials (metal and plastic), coating and manufacturing processes for precision parts.
  • Proficient in 3D CAD modelling and simulation software like SolidWorks.
  • Good knowledge and experience in GD&T, tolerance stack‑up analysis.
  • Good knowledge and experience in performing FEA and motion analysis and technical review of mechanism design.
  • Ability to communicate (speak and write documentation) in Mandarin is preferred as you will be liaising closely with other support departments in China HQ.
  • Final position (Principal / Senior / Engineer) offered will commensurate with your years of relevant experience.
  • Familiar with regulatory and compliance requirements for the development of medical product.
