Job description

This is a specialist professional role responsible for managing technically complex, schedule‑critical procurement and expediting activities for water treatment and process plant projects. The position requires in-depth knowledge of process equipment, SAP‑based procurement systems, vendor documentation flows, inspection regimes, and construction interfaces, which are not readily available in the local labour market, particularly for large‑scale or fast‑track treatment facilities.

The role carries direct accountability for equipment readiness, material availability, SAP data integrity, and supplier performance, all of which are critical to meeting construction, testing, and commissioning milestones.

Key Responsibilities

Material Expediting & Project Procurement (≈80%)
  • Manage end-to-end expediting of water treatment and process plant equipment, including pumps, filters, membranes, dosing systems, packaged skids, and associated mechanical and electrical components.

  • Perform technical and commercial evaluations of vendor submissions against process design requirements, datasheets, quality standards, and project delivery schedules.

  • Conduct supplier negotiations covering pricing, delivery commitments, technical deviations, and recovery actions.

  • Review and validate purchase requisitions and purchase orders to ensure alignment with process design, construction sequencing, and commissioning requirements.

  • Execute procurement, expediting, and material tracking activities within SAP‑based enterprise project environments.

  • Manage end-to-end PR‑to‑PO workflows, delivery tracking, and goods receipt processes in SAP in alignment with approved project schedules.

  • Drive proactive supplier expediting through structured follow‑ups, factory progress monitoring, inspection coordination, and vendor documentation tracking.

  • Interface directly with process engineering, QA/QC, construction, logistics, commissioning, and project controls teams to resolve technical and delivery constraints.

  • Assess and recommend vendors based on technical compliance, performance history, and schedule reliability.

  • Coordinate warehouse and logistics activities, ensuring controlled receipt, inspection, storage, traceability, and material issuance.

  • Resolve non‑conformances, shortages, damages, and documentation discrepancies at goods receipt.

  • Ensure material status, delivery milestones, and documentation are accurately reflected in SAP to support project controls, cost tracking, and audit requirements.

  • Provide functional coordination and oversight of warehouse and logistics personnel as required by the project.

Project & Technical Coordination (≈20%)
  • Coordinate and control project technical documentation, including vendor drawings, data books, inspection records, and technical correspondence.

  • Participate in resolving technical issues arising during installation, testing, start‑up, and commissioning of water treatment facilities.

  • Support the Project Manager and Engineering Leads on supply‑chain‑related technical, cost, and schedule risks.

  • Interface with finance and project controls teams to resolve SAP‑related discrepancies impacting material availability or cost reporting.

  • Contribute structured feedback to proposal and tender teams through formal Lessons Learned processes.
