The Project Engineer will be responsible for the engineering design, coordination, and execution of Building Management System (BMS) and/or IoT sensor implementation projects. This role involves working closely with internal engineering teams, system integrators, contractors, and clients to deliver smart building and digital infrastructure solutions on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
The ideal candidate has hands‑on experience in BMS, HVAC controls, IoT sensor systems, or smart building technologies, with strong project coordination and problem‑solving skills.
Project Execution & Engineering
- Support the planning, design, and implementation of BMS and IoT sensor projects from concept through commissioning.
- Review project specifications, drawings, and technical requirements to ensure alignment with client and regulatory standards.
- Develop and coordinate system architecture involving sensors, controllers, gateways, networks, and cloud platforms where applicable.
- Assist in hardware selection, sensor placement strategy, and system topology design.
Coordination & Stakeholder Management
- Coordinate with consultants, system integrators, subcontractors, and vendors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Liaise with clients, facility managers, and building owners to understand operational requirements and site constraints.
- Participate in project meetings, site walks, and technical discussions.
Installation, Testing & Commissioning
- Oversee or support on‑site installation of BMS panels, field devices, IoT sensors, and communication networks.
- Conduct system integration testing (SIT), factory acceptance testing (FAT), and site acceptance testing (SAT).
- Support system commissioning, tuning, and performance validation.
- Troubleshoot system issues during installation and post‑deployment.
Documentation & Compliance
- Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, system schematics, method statements, and commissioning reports.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, KNX, LonWorks, TCP/IP).
- Support handover documentation and user training for operations teams.
Continuous Improvement
- Provide feedback on system performance and implementation challenges to improve future designs.
- Keep up to date with emerging BMS, IoT, smart building, and sustainability technologies.
Qualifications & Experience
Education
- Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services, Mechatronics, or a related field.
Experience
- 3–5 years of experience in BMS engineering, building services, automation, or IoT implementation projects.
- Experience working on commercial buildings, data centres, industrial facilities, or smart buildings is preferred.
- Exposure to end‑to‑end project delivery (design, installation, commissioning).
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of BMS platforms and protocols (e.g. BACnet, Modbus, KNX, LonWorks).
- Familiarity with HVAC systems, lighting control, energy monitoring, or environmental sensors.
- Understanding of IoT architectures, including sensors, gateways, networks, and cloud platforms.
- Basic networking knowledge (IP addressing, VLANs, TCP/IP).
- Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical drawings.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD or BIM experience is an advantage.
Soft Skills & Attributes
- Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Good communication skills for engaging with technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
- Problem‑solving mindset with attention to detail.
- Willingness to attend site work and support testing and commissioning activities.
Nice to Have (Preferred)
- Experience with sustainability, energy efficiency, or smart building analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of data platforms, APIs, or cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure IoT).
- Prior experience working with system integrators or technology vendors.
