A social enterprise organization in Singapore is seeking a Programme Assistant (Bakery) to facilitate training sessions for adults with disabilities in a supportive bakery environment. The role involves guiding trainees through baking processes, monitoring their progress, and collaborating with health professionals to develop training curricula. Ideal candidates will have a Higher NITEC in pastry arts and a passion for social inclusion and vocational training.
The Programme Assistant (Bakery) plays a vital role in the THKbloom Enabling Skills for Life Programme (ESLP) under the Work Therapy Model, supporting adults with disabilities in developing functional and vocational skills for greater independence and employability.
Working within a multidisciplinary team comprising Occupational Therapists, Psychologists, Social Workers, Job Coaches, and Programme Executives, you will facilitate hands‑on training in the Knead with Love Bakery, a supported employment set‑up that provides meaningful work and structured learning for trainees.
This role is ideal for individuals passionate about teaching, empowerment, and inclusion, who enjoy both hands‑on work and working closely with trainees in a training environment that mirrors real‑world employment.
Facilitate daily bakery training sessions, guiding trainees through bread and pastry production processes such as dough kneading, filling insertion, proofing, baking, and packaging.
Support trainees in building work habits and soft skills, including teamwork, following instructions, hygiene practices, and task ownership.
Adapt training and supervision according to trainees' Support Level tiers and Individualised Development Plans (IDPs).
Monitor, document, and report on trainees' performance, progress, and behavioural observations to the multidisciplinary team.
Reinforce Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) strategies and carry out training on functional skills development in alignment with the NOURISH curriculum.
Work closely with the Programme Executive and Allied Health Professionals to refine the bakery training curriculum to meet ESLP learning outcomes.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of training materials, SOPs, and teaching resources to ensure consistency with industry standards.
Participate in the planning and production of bakery items for institutional supply and e-commerce platforms (THK HeartShop) to sustain the programme's social enterprise model.
Support marketing, packaging, and event preparation for bakery‑related projects or collaborations.
Maintain the cleanliness, safety, and functionality of the bakery workspace and equipment.
Assist in inventory management and procurement of ingredients, tools, and packaging materials.
Support in audit preparation, assessments, and programme reporting.
Uphold all food safety, SFA, and Halal certification requirements within the bakery.
Minimum Higher NITEC in Pastry and Baking, Culinary Arts, or related discipline.
Prior experience in bakery, pastry, or food production preferred.
Experience working with adults with disabilities is advantageous; on‑the‑job training in disability support will be provided.
