Role Overview
The Production manager will lead end-to-end production operations for long- and short-form projects, from development through delivery. You’ll take ownership of budgets, schedules, vendors, and compliance while championing smart, scalable workflows. With a balance of creativity and rigor, you’ll oversee multiple productions simultaneously, ensuring excellence in both storytelling and execution.
Key Responsibilities
Production Leadership
- Lead and oversee pre-production, production, and post-production across multiple concurrent projects.
- Own day-to-day operations, proactively identifying risks and resolving issues before escalation.
- Provide strategic input on production models, workflows, and efficiencies.
- Mentor junior producers, coordinators, and production staff to build team capability.
Budget & Cost Control
- Build and manage complex, multi-currency production budgets and cashflows.
- Oversee cost reporting, purchase orders, invoices, and reconciliations.
- Negotiate rates and drive cost efficiencies while safeguarding creative quality.
- Drive cost efficiencies through scalable processes, vendor partnerships, and workflow optimisation.
- Provide financial visibility and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
Scheduling & Resource Management
- Create and maintain detailed production and post-production schedules, including finishing workflows (offline/online, grade, mix, QC, delivery).
- Anticipate and resolve bottlenecks, reallocating resources as needed across projects.
Vendor, Crew & Talent Management
- Source, negotiate, and manage high-quality vendors and freelancers (crew, editors, colourists, sound, VFX, archive researchers, fixers).
- Maintain and expand a trusted global roster of vendors and freelance talent experienced with relevant experiences..
- Lead vendor/crew onboarding, contracts, and compliance.
Logistics (Domestic & International)
- Oversee complex international logistics including travel, visas, carnets (ATA), permits, insurance, risk assessments, and health & safety compliance.
- Develop contingency plans for on-location challenges in diverse environments.
Post-Production Supervision
- Manage all aspects of post-production including offline/online edit, colour pipelines (UHD/HDR10/Dolby Vision), audio (5.1/Atmos), subtitles/CC, AD, graphics, and archival workflows.
- Ensure technical excellence and creative alignment at each post-production stage.
Delivery & Compliance
- Oversee delivery to international broadcasters and streamers, ensuring compliance with exacting technical specifications (e.g., IMF, AS-11, EBU R128 loudness, frame rates).
- Manage rights & clearances, cue-sheets, music reporting, and legal documentation.
Data & Media Management
- Enforce robust, secure data workflows across production and post.
- Ensure resilience, redundancy, and compliance with industry best practices in data protection.
Process & Quality Assurance
- Standardise and enforce SOPs, call sheets, release forms, risk logs, and production handbooks.
- Lead QC processes at every stage of production and post-production to meet or exceed industry standards.
- Champion continuous improvement and knowledge-sharing across the team.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in production management.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent budgeting, scheduling, and project management abilities.
- Familiarity with production equipment, workflows, and industry-standard tools/software.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
