Job description

We are seeking a Production Engineer to join our team at Svanehoj Singapore Pte. Ltd. In this role, you will support the Production Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations within the pump production facility, with a strong focus on machine shop activities and process improvements in the assembly department.

You will play a key role in ensuring smooth production flow, maintaining high standards of quality, and driving continuous improvement in productivity, safety, and cost efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
Machine shop operations
  • Supervise daily machining activities to ensure timely completion of parts according to production schedules.
  • Coordinate with planning and maintenance teams to ensure machine accuracy and minimize downtime.
  • Review machining drawings, tolerances, and setup methods to achieve accuracy and consistency.
  • Monitor tool performance, optimize machining parameters, and recommend improvements in tooling and fixtures.
  • Ensure proper documentation of machine processes and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Assembly department improvement
  • Work closely with team leaders to analyze workflows and identify areas for improvement.
  • Implement process enhancements to reduce cycle time, improve product quality, and standardize work procedures.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and quality departments to resolve assembly and fitting issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives (5S, Lean, Kaizen) within the assembly line.
Production coordination and control
  • Coordinate between machine shop, fabrication, and assembly departments to ensure smooth workflow and on-time delivery.
  • Support production planning and resource allocation to meet order requirements.
  • Track and report production performance, efficiency, rework, and downtime.
  • Assist in implementing production control systems and maintaining accurate records in ERP or production systems.
Process and quality improvement
  • Participate in root cause analysis and correction actions for quality process issues.
  • Propose and implement productivity and cost reduction measures in machining and assembly areas.
  • Support new product introductions and process validation for prototype or special pump models.
Safety and housekeeping
  • Ensure all operations comply with company safety policies and WSH regulations.
  • Promote a culture of safety awareness and good housekeeping practice across all production areas.
Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in manufacturing or industrial engineering.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a pump manufacturing or precision engineering environment.
  • Strong understanding of machining and assembly processes for rotating equipment or marine pumps.
  • Good analytical and problem-solving skills, with hands-on approach in production support.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills across departments.
  • Familiar with lean manufacturing, 5S, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Proficient in reading engineering drawings and understanding mechanical tolerances.
