DESIGNATION : Producer, Beijing Bureau (2-Year Contract)

RESPONSIBILITIES

Key Responsibilities

  • Support CNA's news coverage of China - working closely with Beijing correspondents and camera crew, under the guidance of editors in Singapore
  • Conduct research, provide background information and context to strengthen accuracy, context and depth of correspondent and CNA's reporting for news bulletins and features
  • Tap network to source interviewees, profiles and filming locations, and pitch story ideas
  • Monitor local media and social media, verify information and flag emerging trends for potential stories
  • Coordinate field shoots, interviews and operational logistics, including scheduling and obtaining filming permits
  • Liaise with analysts and experts for on-air and in-studio appearances
  • Translate and interpret interviews (Chinese to English, English to Chinese)
  • Assist with simple post-production tasks such as editing footage and soundbites for news bulletins, as required

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, communications or related field preferred, but not a must
  • Media or reporting experience preferred, but not a must
  • Native-level Chinese and fluent English
  • Proficient in Chinese-to-English translation and interpretation
  • Familiarity with broadcast journalism or television production is an advantage
  • Experience in research, reporting, or media preferred
  • Strong research and analytical skills, as well as sound news judgment
  • Able to monitor/verify social media and emerging trends
  • Basic video editing and field production experience (preferred)
  • Experience working in China
  • Good knowledge of China's landscape, working culture and its global impact for an international news audience
  • This role will be based in Beijing
