Job summary

A leading power technologies company in Kallang, Singapore is seeking a Principal Power Technology Researcher. This role involves conducting fundamental research in high-power technologies that will shape future products over the next 4-6 years. Candidates should possess a Master's or PhD in power systems, strong design knowledge, and 5+ years of relevant experience. The role requires excellent teamwork and leadership in technology prototyping, collaboration across teams, and knowledge of power electronics design.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years design experience for Master's or design experience for a PhD in high power circuits.
  • Experience in power supply design, including Rack Server and EVFC.
  • Familiar with AC/DC PSU EMC and Safety regulations.

Job description

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add aPrincipal Power Technology Researcherlocated inKallang, Singapore.

ThePrincipal Power Technology Researcherwill be accountable for the fundamental research into technologies that will form the basis for future high-power products that the company will introduce four to six years from now. The job encompasses research and prototyping of leading-edge power system technologies, proof of concept designs, design simulations, patent applications, whitepapers, scholarly articles and technology presentation materials. This job requires deep working knowledge and engagement with multiple groups on the latest available technologies, research of new inventions, and collaboration with the company's Advanced Technology teams.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Working under the direction of Senior Researchers to identify new technologies which can be perfected for introduction to Flex Advanced Technology teams for conversion to working platforms within the defined requirements.
  • Technologies of interest include Medium Voltage AC to High Voltage DC solid state transformer systems, isolated DC-DC converter topologies with high conversion ratios of between 50:1 and 100:1, advanced AC three-phase input sections with harmonic control and good EMC performance, and other solutions tofundamental problems that exist in modern datacenters.
  • Work across functional teams to assess whether proposed technology can meet product specification, costtarget, schedule, etc.
  • Provide technology leadership and advise on how to solve technical problems encountered the research and prototyping phases
  • Design support and issue resolution during the handoff period between the Singapore Research Centre and the company's Advanced Technology Teams.
Experience we’re looking to add to our team:
  • Master's Degree or recent Ph. D in power systems or power electronics
  • 5 years design experience for master's degree design experience for a PhD degree, in high power circuits and topologies related to power supply design (Rack Server, OBC, EVFC, HVDC, Solid State Transformer concepts, etc.), and independent project design leadership experience.
  • Strong Power electronics/power supply design knowledge, and deep understanding about popular topologies such as Totem-pole PFC, Vienna PFC, T-NPC, ANPC, flyback, LLC, CLLC, DAB, etc.
  • Solid magnetics design skill and experience
  • Familiar with AC/DC PSU EMC and Safety regulations, familiar with engineering simulation tools such as Mathcad, SIMetrix, PSIM, PADs,
